okay i have the new front struts. i have read the manual i down loaded. do i need to remove the whole thing with forks attached or can i separate the fork and take the cartridge and spring out?

it does not seem real clear. i have the spring composer. am ready to get down to doing this.

You have to remove the forks. Clearly mark the spring position on the strut before removing the spring, or you will have to redo the job ten times before finding back the correct position of the spring on the strut. Removing the spring is dangerous! Imperative: grease the spring compressor threads.

okay remove the forks. got it.

now i'm replacing the strut cartridge, so just transfer marks to the new one for the spring orientation.

and yes i was told to grease the spring clamp well.

thank you

frank
