Hi All,
Went to get an Oil change and came out with a New 2016 Sorento SX!
Totally unexpected, and now.. I could not be happier.

All in All , I was never a big fan of My 2014 Sorento SX FWD.
I complained about it a bit here on the Forums.
But I really think that pretty much every point that was
bugging me is now.. AWESOME!
The drive for me is much more stable and the suspension is
completely changed the drive.
I used to hit minor bumps that felt really hard, and now it just feels right.
Not too bouncy, but goes through the messed up New York Streets like butter.

Then for me a Huge Downer was the FWD I had on my 2014.
This 2016 being AWD fixed all my drive issues. I will never again make the same mistake to drive off on a FWD.
When I would accelerate with my FW drive the car would momentarily swirve out of control, I think due to the weight and the torque coming from the front.
Now when I do the same, its all balanced and the car maintains its control just right.

Another Big deal for me was Bluetooth Audio.
2014 for me had messed that up completely.
Originally coming from a 2011 sorento, that had no issues with Bluetooth Audio, My Audio was less then average over Bluetooth on the 2014. which for me was important since all my music is through spotify.
Now I can grade the sound at least like a B+ or better through Bluetooth, which for me is just fine.

So all in all, the trim is so nice, the drive is smoother the tech upgrades are welcome, the drive is more mature and in control.

For me it was a great change going from 2014 to a 2016.

Just thought this might help anyone here giving it a thought.
It brought back my faith in the sorento line.
Oh yea, I do not work for Kia or anything like that..
Just psyched with my new ride!;)

very nice, the only thing you didn't mention in your Drive info, is which engine did you get as an SX is available with the 2.0L turbo or V6

Congrats, but don't jinx it .... give it time, everyone is completely pleased as punch when they first get a vehicle, but after a few weeks or months, issues will arise, you'll find things that don't work right or as you thought they would, noises will happen, but, I do hope you have no issues, nobody likes to have something new causing them headaches.

I have to agree with you 100% on the AWD vs. FWD issue, I don't know why I didn't get an AWD vehicle for the winters here in Canada a LONG time ago, it makes driving in snow so much easier, even 'fun' because you're not getting nothing but wheel spin and feel like at any moment you could slide off into a curb or ditch, it's quite the opposite, confident, in control, and makes life behind the wheel a pleasure.

Enjoy!!!

Uh, it still spins the front wheels only, unless you've deliberately locked the AWD or it detects a slip. It's not the Sorento being AWD that's helping you.

Otherwise, its just Placebo effect.

Sometimes there are slight traction issues that make the AWD kick in such as cornering, uneven roadways etc. and the AWD is kicking in and you don't even realize it, not just wheel 'spin'.

I did the same upgrade from a 2014 SX to a 2016 SX. In my case same engine, AWD and bluetooth.
Some of the things I like about the 2016 over 2014 were the digital speedo as found the short needle in the 2014 hard to see, the new tech features such as smart cruise control and 360 cameras, better sound system, better interior, more power adjustments to driver and passenger seats, improved Nav system (like the split Map/Media screen) and finally colour I wanted (Dark cherry) that was not available in the 2014's.
Dislike is had to go with a 7 seater, liked the underfloor storage in the 5 seater.

I understand you completely! Same here, but, I fold the 3rd row down and used this to create the huge cargo area. Also, used my spare net from other car (fits perfectly) so now I've 2 nets and a lot of cargo room!
Bought the Weather Tech floor mats (rains a lot in Vancouver). Had that in previous cars and it's a must have! Also, installed the standard hitch (2"x2") and plugged in the bumpstep with a Theft Deterrent Hitch pin protects and prevents bumper damage from yourself or other drivers. Tomorrow I am installing front bumper Xpel Ultimatum paint protection film from bulk roll (not Canadian kit yet) and LampGard® Headlight Protection

Cheers

99% of the time, back of our car only carries groceries or luggage so haven't seen the need for an all weather mat in back. Do use them for footwells,, so far looks like recycling the KIA Canada OEM ones from the 2014 Sorento will work.
Have used the 3rd row a few times so far when had 5 in the car, more comfortable to put one in 3rd row than squeezing 3 in the 2nd.
One benefit of the 7 seater is the 2nd row seats slide back and forth whereas are fixed in the 5 seater.

So, I finally found one gripe!
With all the crazy amount of attention to driver's seat adjustments,
they totally missed the ability to adjust the head rest.
I feel like its sticking forward too much not letting me rest my head comfortably.
I believe my 2014 could tilt backwards or forwards.

Anyone here feel the same?
any tips for a fix?

yes read the manual, in the Canadian 2016 owners manual it shows its fully adjustable, up and down and forward and back, depending on the type you have (Type A, or Type b - button on side). Its on page 3/12, must be close to that page in the US version. :)

My gripe for the 2016 is the same as with the 2014 with the 8 inch screen Nav system. The "My Music" on board storage requires loading one song at a time. As result, it isn't used as was the case with the 2014 when have options to use USB stick or bluetooth.
