I was wondering if anyone on here knew which mazda that the sportage's 2.0 liter inline-4 came from and if performance parts are available or of engine swaps, any help would be appreciated, I have not purchased a sportage yet, but I have talked with a few owners and I am intigued and seriously considering purchasing one, but the one biggest complaint i've heard about is not enough power, even with the manual transmission

Hi there
The Kia Sportage as a 2litre DOHC FE 3 Mazda engine
they fitted this from 1995 onwards, the early ones were
117 bhp then later they were uprated to 126bhp.

Why would you want to supercharge the engine, this
would be an expensive job, you maybe able to turbocharge
it which is entirley a diffrent setup.
I pull a caravan which is 1100kg and it pulls this no problem.
It all depends on what you want to use the car for,in the UK
there is a firm who can reprogam the ECU but that only gives
you about another 10BHP.

Is it possible to swap in ford/mazda's 2.5 liter v6 in the 4's place, i've found it's possible to supercharge the 4 because Thomas Knight makes a supercharger kit for the mazda version of the engine, but i really think that a sportage would need a v6
