how to know the power of my engine 1.8 or 1.6
in the papers they say 1.6 a year 2001
but i think it's more powerful >> maybe 1.8
in my country they change the horse power to avoide taxes
so what you think???
and can i replace this one with 2.0 or not?
1.6 or 1.8 is the displacement (in litres) of the engine, not the horsepower rating.
Displacement is the measure of total volume of all the cylinders.
Displacement is calculated by one stroke of the piston, from it's upper most position to it's lowermost position, then multiplied by the number of cylinders.
So in the case of a 4 cylinder, 1.6 litre engine, each cylinder displaces 400cc, about the same as a medium sized motorcycle.
Horsepower can vary depending on engine effeciency, technology and design. A modern engine of that size would usually produce "about" 100 horsepower, but only 20 years ago it might have produced only 60 horsepower.
Will 2002/03 Kia Spectra engines interchange with 2000 Kia Sephia engines. My books say they will, parts stores and wrecking yards say no. If not, what are the differences? My books say only "T8, 1998 and later"
