2006 Kia Sorento driver side front window does not work is there a way to get the window motor out by itself or must I take out the regulator also

There might be, but by the time you have you might as well remove the regulator assembly and motor complete. If you get the motor out, you probably won't get it back in because of the effort needed to hold everything in alignment. I did try replacing only the motor (after removing the assembly), but it ended up easier to replace the complete assembly. imo this avoids having mis-matched wear points.
