Has anyone been able to disconnect the door ajar/ selt belt/ ignition chime - I find the chime v. irritating, the red warning light is enough as far as I am concerned.
Hope to hear from someone who has been able to solve this.
Good luck. The chime is located inside of the ETACS module. You could try to disassemble the module and remove the chime, but that's risky. Any wires you disconnect will also turn off the warning lights in the instrument cluster. The ETACS module is located behind the ashtray.
the door and seat belt should both be on a switch/sensor. Some door sensors are actually built into the door latch if so i have no idea how to rig it. However if they are both switches and you can find them you should be able to rewire them so it fools the computer.
I guess you could do that. It would be a lot of work though. All 4 doors, the seatbelt switch, domelight, and the keysense would need to be bypassed. If the outputs aren't the same, then you would need to run some relays, and if it mattered, your domelight fading would also be lost.
The one that most annoyed me was the, key in ignition/drivers door open, beep.
I found it reasonably easy to disable it, by removing the lower dash panels ( several screws and clips ) and two screws which mount the bonnett ( hood ) release lever. There is one hidden screw which is accessed by a clip off panel around the right hand end of the dash (door open) I guess that will be left hand end of dash for you. ( we have right hand drive versions here )
I could then see the little white switch mounted on top of the ignition barrel housing.
Assuming it would be a 'normally open' switch I found it easiest to snip one wire and feed the cut end down the sleeving to insulate it. Be sure to leave enough wire on the switch so that it can be reinstated if desired.
This was successful and all other warning lights etc were not affected.
This is a problem with the chime that has not happened for a long time so I kind of forgot about it---- I guess hoping it would never return but it did.......simply the G** Dam*** chime starts its racket when you insert the key and continues when driving and even when the key is removed from the ignition and continues on its merry way just like the Duracel Bunny...it goes on and on and on>>>>>>>>>. I've tried shutting the engine off, pushing on the the door switch, and anything else I can think of all to no avail.....it just decides to stop whenever it feels like it... :haha: :haha: It is a real pain in the **** and and I would like to disconnect the dam thing once and for all   I will re-read the posts again in hoping to find a solution but I do not want to screw things up............It is probably a computer glitch and I guess and I will need to drive it to the dealer and hopefully it will continue clanging away when I get there....................really pissing me......any body experience this???????????????????????? :haha: :haha: I AM NOT LOOKING FORWARD TO THE TIME WHEN IT DECIDES TO CLANG ALL NIGHT AND RUNS DOWN THE BATTERY AND KEEPS UP THE NEIGHBORS AND ME... :haha: :haha: ......................an 04 Amanti......I WOULD SURE LIKE TO GET THIS THING FIXED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
KiaMech.....thanks for your response........ and seatbelt is firmly attached and no low fuel.........no warning lights....nothing except that G** Dammed incessant chime >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> engine running, engine off, key in, key removed ---makes no difference....sure wish I could disconnect the chime
