I noticed user 'conwelpic' mentioned in another thread that he is getting free oil changes on his new Kia... Is anyone else getting this? Did you have to negotiate to get it.

Btw - I changed mine for the first time in my garage this evening with 5w-20 castrol edge synthetic (3.3 liters @ $21) and an oem Kia filter ($7). Took about 1/2 hour. Car has 3600 kms on the clock. I believe in doing that first important change early...

I was offered lifetime oil changes for $400 extra but ended up buying at a different dealer because i got more money off the car.

Hi, no I didn't and it's my fault. I should have asked. I was given a lot of extras though like 4 winter tires and 4 wheels, tinted glass, locks for the mag wheels, 4 winter rubber mats, protection against the rain in the windshield, and so on.

No I didn't get the free oil changes either. They instead gave me tires for life as long as I have the vehicle serviced with them. I've decided it's not worth them servicing the vehicle as the tires are fairly inexpensive. Cheaper just to do it myself or let one of the other dealerships do it.

My son-in-law purchased a Sorento in the Baltimore, MD area and received free lifetime oil changes. I purchased a Rio 5 SX and managed a $500 discount and a set of floor mats. My Florida dealer offered me 10 oil changes and tire rotations for $600. There was also the provision that I change oil every 3,750 miles. I turned down the offer. I still wonder about Kia recommending only mineral oil in their US cars. This seem strange when I have read articles claiming that the European Union bans mineral oil, only allowing synthetic motor oils. I called Kia customer service and asked them why they do not recommend synthetic oils. The answer I got suggested that the person I spoke with did not know.

Most dealers will offer a "maintenance plan" when purchasing the vehicle. At my dealer it includes oil changes, tire rotations, and annual New York State inspections. My apologies for not being able to provide the cost to the customer, as I don't know how much it is. But aside from that we do have a few other perks. The first oil change after vehicle purchase is free. After that if you pay for 5 oil changes (on a per-visit basis) you'll get the 6th oil change free. If you buy and we install 4 tires, you'll get free lifetime rotations and puncture repairs. There are more things as well, but those are really all that pertain to the maintenance.

At my dealer (Fairfax Kia) I get free oil changes and free state inspections as long as I own my Rio5 SX. I also would get free tires as long as I own the car if I have all of my regularly scheduled maintenance done through them. However, I know the manager of a tire place, and can do all of the regularly schedule maintenance myself.

What is offered is different on a dealer-to-dealer basis. Some offer packages, some include it with the price of the vehicle(at an addition cost), and some throw certain things in for free with the deal. I don't believe there is any kind of maintenance package offered by Kia itself. The dealer I work has deals similar to what mattbyzf mentioned:free PA annual safety inspection(emissions not free), discount on 1st oil change, free rotations with tire purchases, buy 4 get the 5th free oil changes. We don't offer any maintenance package yet.
