My Niro is prepared for towing up to 1300 kilograms. I notice it’ll be a lot cheaper to buy a fixed towbar kit and getting a friend to help me install it, than getting the removable towbar installed by a Kia dealer. Anyone experience with this route and have checked if installing a kit yourself will affect warranty? Having a removable towbar over a fixed towbar seems like a hassle although I only need one a few times a year.

So I can't speak for other countries, but in the US, the Kia dealership has to prove that the modification you've made caused a problem for them to deny a warranty repair. so if you install a tow hook and it causes rust around the installation, they may not honor the warranty or something like that. I have no experience installing, but I saw that U-Haul has a installation video for 2018 Kia Niro on youtube
