VW now makes 2.0 in 140 and 170 variant so its pretty common but it would be better to get custom tuning because every engine is different.

Anyone tried one of these?

Home » Diesel Power Tuning - Specialists in Diesel Tuning, Diesel Power and Diesel Performance using the DPT Tuning Box

It's supposed to increase the power and improve economy:auto:
I have one of these fitted to my Cee'd 1.6CRDI Cartuning4u - Onlineshop » Chiptuning » C4U Power Digital FB Ceed 1.6 CRDi 115 PS

With remote control so you can back it down to 115bhp, the torque is outstanding, but the mpg reading are wrong on the display, but it goes like hell, got my first fine for speeding, so watch out.
it does smoke a bit, but can be backed off using the control on the tuning box.
Sorry it in German

The local installer to me said he would fit one to my car for a weeks free trial so that I could see the improvement for myself.

However......

I spoke to KIA (UK) about these and was told that fitting one (or modifying the ECU) would void my warranty!

Also spoke to my insurance company and was told it would void my insurance as well!

there are similiar threads talking and describing everything abt this and that on this forum. just try to use search engine mate ;)
mine opnion - this is crap and once again - doesnt cost a 300gbp! 10pounds max! Check this one link for INSIDE of the BOX :D:D:D
Powerbox nebo chip? OBD-II diagnostika aut koncernu VW - pøíklady a popis øídících jednotek...

p.s. u have to be really stupid to announce to everyone (service, dealer and insuarance) that u got modded one.......
Wow, thats a swizz, atleast mine you can see whats inside, it's a proper circuit board with the correct items on it and can be removed without trace before a service, so there is no modification to the ECU

of course no mods to ECU! just a simple increasing of electric signal to commonrail to supply more fuel @ less acceleration. thats why people gotr smoke etc. proper circuit doesnt mean it is a good one. IT JUST CAN'T BE THE GOOD ONE!
engine work its not just fuel! its an valves work, ignition angle etc -loads of parametres that have to be changed to make it work good etc. these boxes just changes electric signal on commonrail e.g. from 2.3v to 4.5v - THATS ALL!

p.s. i have made a custom modd - been @ service seversal times and no trace ;)
p.p.s. so why spend a 300pounds for nothing when u can spend 200pounds for a normal chip tuning

Just to let you know, I didn't take up the offer of the free trial. I phoned the dealer to enquire what was involved in fitting one and it was them that advised me to contact my insurance company first.

There are insurance companies that will cover you if you fit one of these but the extra premium they charge doesn't make it worth it.

My KIA dealer also said that they can tell if one of these has been fitted and removed as it would be recorded in the ECU. Don't know if that is true or not.
