I just debadged the rear of my Sorento and Optima. It is very easy to do.

This is what you will need:
1. Hair dryer
2. Fishing line or dental floss. (I recommend fishing line....doesnt break as much)
3. Goof Off (or another adhesive remover)

This is how it is done:
1. Take the hair dryer and heat up the emblem.
2. Take the fishing line or dental floss and work it behind the emblem until it comes off.
3. Once the emblem has been removed put some adhesive remover on a rag and rub
off any adhesive that may be left on the vehicle.
4. Wash that area of the vehicle after all of the adhesive has been removed to get the
adhesive remover off of the vehicle.

It is easy as that! :)

is it legal to have your car debadged from the front and back? Right now I am thinking of taking off the front badge, having it custom painted and put some where else on the front (not on the bumber since I am modifying it.)

I know quite a few people that have debadged their vehicle and they have not been given a hard time about it. Pretty sure its legal. My Optima is now debadged all the way around. It looks great.

Just out of interest, why would it be illegal to debadge you vehicle? I've certainly not had any problems in the UK, in fact my Shuma just sailed through it's MOT and they usually would mention something like that, or fail it on illegal things

I used to be a police officer before I went back on active duty in the Army and all that you should be worried about is the tag not being modified in any way to keep it from being easily read and your inspection stickers being easily read as well if you have a state inspection sticker.

It was even easier than debadging the back. First pop the hood and take a 10mm socket and remove all 10 nuts around the back side of the grill. Pull the grill out then take a phillips head screw driver and remove both screws on the back side of the grill which holds the emblem on. Then put the grill back on the car. Its as easy as that. It takes only like 2 minutes tops.

Ya I just did that yesterday, very easy, it looks so much better now the whole front of the car. I'm leaving the back ones there though, i just wanted the front one out of there, I dont think it belongs there, everybody should take it out lol.

I was told by a bodyshop the week after I bought my Amanti that they could remove the KIA badge on the trunk, but that there would be holes left in the trunk - was he lying? No one else who has said the debadged their KIA said they had the hole issue. HELP ! I want it GONE!!!

Well - guess what.. I got brave after a beer and decided enough was enough - I took some dental floss to the rear end of my Amanti and removed that Kia Logo that had been staring at me for a year! - No Holes... that guy was full of it...<_<

The adhesive wasn't that strong actually, you just have to saw carefully and slowly and just use a little goo-gone to get rid of the excess sticky - super easy and the result looks awesome!

Debadge Away fellow Amanti owners !!!!!

Hello Spec SX,

I was just reading through the posts, I have a couple of questions, three actualy.

When someone talks about tags is that the same as our number plates?

What is a state inspection sticker, is that the same as our MOT ?, in Germany they have what is called a TUV inspection and at the end of it you get two little round stickers that you put on your number plate and is good for two years.

How long is the inspection good for?

Yes the tags are another way of saying number plates.
About the state inspection. It varys from state to state. Here in Vermont its good for one year. Not sure about other states. I know some states dont require a state inspection. And here in Vermont the inspection sticker is placed in the center of the Windshield at the top. Where it is placed also varys from state to state. Here in Vermont they check to make sure your tires are in good condition, make sure all of your lights work, breaks are in good shape, etc....
I have never heard of your MOT. What is it like?
