I have a 2001 Kia Rio with approx. 80,000 miles. The other day my battery went bad and I replaced the battery but I was driving home (about 10 mins in the drive) and the car died. It started back up and I made it home but had to keep foot on the gas. It would not go over 30mph and sputter the whole way. CEL came on and it said Crankshaft Position Sensor. Does anyone know if this will cause that sort of problem?

Was the CEL blinking or solid?

I'd say it is quite possible since without a correct reading the engine has only a vague idea of what position the crankshaft is in.
