A buddy of mine was helping me look at my car today, turns out that the area where the air filter is at was completely loose. The two bolts that it goes into had no nuts securing it down. Could this have caused a p1166?

I don't think it just being loose would have caused a code. There should be two nuts holding the filter box in the front and also two bolts in the back.

Did you check if the hose clamps connecting the filter box to the throttle body tube were tight? If that was also loose that might mess up the MAF sensor.
