I have 1.8 LX 2004 version, In the highway I obtained a consumption of 13 km/ltr, I think that in city must be around 9/10

HI guys,

Does anyone ever try to install an adjustable Fuel pressure regulator? will it work by manipulating a lower pressure setting?

Dear All,

I never install any extra kit in my car, EC 2004. The fuel consumption of my car is almost same to reneotip. I showed more detail as below:
<<Condition>>
- 80% high way; 20% city way
- 70% 4 people; 30% one person
<<Test result>>
- Under 1000km: about 5~6km/L
- 1000km~5000km: 7~8km/L
- Above 5000km: 8~12km/L

regards,
Walter

Sorry! I wrote too simple in my prior mention.
(1) On the average, I drived my car 80% on high way and 20% on city way.
When I drive my car, 70% of the time I take 4 people in my car, and 30% of the time only myself.
(2) Before the 1000KM service, my car consumed about 5~6km/L
(3) After 1000KM service, my car consumed 7~8km/L
(4) After 5000km service, the consumption is 8~12km/L

Yes, I got my Carens in Jan 04 and the mileage is now 11000+Km but I am still getting about 7.5km and less. I was told by the agent that is because I do not drive for long distance of which fuel consumption would be lower. He mentioned that Caren would be around 8km +/- 1km.

Just wondering how you all measure the consumption since Carens don't have a electronic fuel gauge that does that? I estimate by using the petrol I pumped in between full tank and divide by the mileage clocked. Is this the right way or there is better way? Thanks.

Yap, I use the same method like yours to estimate my fuel consumption. I estmated my last car, Nissan Santra 1.6, as well, and get the consumption is about 10~13km/L.

I think the result just can be a reference for myself, because there are many different conditions have to be analysised before we want to compare the consumption with each other, such as: drive behave, loading, road condition... , right?

Hi Guys,

I'm new here :) . Discussion on FC always interest me. My ride's a Caren Aug'03. following is my monthly log. I'm sure you'll be amazed:- 50% Expressway driving

Aug 2003: 180.74 l / 1220 km, FC: 6.75 km/l
Sep 2003: 194.02 l / 1262 km, FC: 6.50 km/l
Oct 2003: 208.1 l / 1379 km, FC: 6.62 km/l
Nov 2003: 309.91 l / 2103 km, FC: 6.79 km/l
Dec 2003: 344.32 l / 2349 km, FC: 6.82 km/l
Jan 2004: 264.75 l / 1660 km, FC: 6.27 km/l
Feb 2004: 309.2 l / 2112 km, FC: 6.83 km/l
Mar 2004: 224.81 l / 1519 km, FC: 6.76 km/l
Apr 2004: 328.47 l / 2344 km, FC: 7.14 km/l
May 2004: 224.78 l / 1513 km, FC: 6.73 km/l
Jun 2004: 246.95 l / 1794 km, FC: 7.27 km/l
Jul 2004: 245.31 l / 1904 km, FC: 7.76 km/l
Aug 2004: 289.78 l / 2149 km, FC: 7.41 km/l
Sep 2004: 314.01 l / 2562 km, FC: 8.16 km/l (went to Melaka)
Oct 2004: 258.55 l / 1784 km, FC: 6.90 km/l (till today)

If you want a detailed log, I'm more than willing to post my excel file. I started with Mobil/Esso SYN8000, then SYN5000, then SYN2000, now SPC92 since Jul04

Scarry huh!. My ride is stock + 205/50R16 + OZ rims with no aftermarkets. Now seriusly considering: Magnets, E68, Z-Stab, Buddy Air-con treatment, Surbo, K&N Drop-in Filter.

I admit that I am heavy footed. but 6.5 to 7 km per litre seems out of this world.

Comments anyone?

Regards,
Azmi

HI Azmi,
Are u the warrant Officer that I had met? IF not try, try seriuosly to consider using E-68/ MIcrocompressor ; it should work. And lastly try using Shell 95/98. It give me better mileage.

man, you guys have it good. Gas prices are so expensivve in Korea that I bought an LPG version. here's only two fuel type engines available with Carens here... LPG or diesel, no petrol.

WIth my LPG, I fill up full tank to about 50 liters, and I am out by 250~300km...crazy short distances if you ask me.

Hi zenius, im driving the 2003 carens. my mileage is ard 7-8 km per litre. u mentioned abt the E-68/ MIcrocompressor. is it useful in increasing the mileage? how much would it cost and where can i get them. another question is the is it advisable to downgrade the octane level cos the mechanics at cycle and carriage suggest that i stick to 98 octane.

Hi Guys -I m new here. I am confused by the figs and method to gauge the consumption.

Firstly , are we comparing auto to manual transmission = auto is more , say 2 km/l . And then the judgment of pump to pump date against distance is subject to error .

Personally , an auto car of Carens size giving 10km/l is good. I will worry if it is 7km/l. A normal 1.6 car of manual should be about 12km/l . And if we are using it in Singapore ~distance so short ; monthly petrol variance of S$50 to S$ 100 ;;ie ave S$2.50 per day.

But I don't like the QA of components. I needed to change distribution cables , raditor hose , battery and my damned interior dims upon the compressor of aircon running and headlights on. Sounds a bit like shit to me. Car can look at but lousy to drive and maintain.

Any body ever try Micro air compressor which can boost the air intake similar to turbocharger functions. May be it can improve fuel cosumption as advertised in the news paper. Wondering how to install it?. :D
