check for any blown fuses. There maybe a chance that your old speed sensor isnt bad, it could be the cluster. I had a 95 dodge neon and the speedo didnt work and I bought another one and replaced it. After that it worked great.

No prob. Well you could be rite about the PO740 having a connection with the speed sensor code. If you continue having trouble with the speed sensor or your speedometer does work, try replacing the entire cluster. Individual gauges can go out like that on a cluster. If you replace it write down the the mileage on both clusters before you put any more miles only because I dont know if the miles are saved in the ecu come place or in the cluster itselfs.
