Hi guys,

So I have a 61 plate (2011) Picanto and it's caused me nothing but trouble lately. It started where I would try turn the engine on and it would click a few times before turning over, this then developed into clicking a lot before turning over and then rapidly turned into just clicking without turning over.

I was told it would be the starter motor - replaced that but still not solved the problem. It would still click but would turn over if jump started.

The suggestion then was to change the battery - done that today and the clicking is still going and it's really struggling to turn over.

Has anyone else had this problem, or know what might fix it? So far I feel like I'm just throwing money away on things that are helping.

Thanks in advance! ?

First suggestion, don't seek any further help from the one making the suggestion to change the starter then the battery - there's checks and tests to be done before doing that kind of thing.

If the battery is load tested and confirmed good, then check and clean the connections from the battery to chassis and engine to chassis.

After doing that measure the voltage at the battery to chassis and starter to chassis when attempting a start.

If you're not a DIY'er then go to a reputable auto-elec shop.
