2013 Rio (base w/Bluetooth, cruise,ac) not sure if its lx or..

Anyway, I use my Bluetooth all the time to stream music from my s3.
The only gripe I have is, can't change tracks from the steering wheels
Is this a limitation of the car's Bluetooth or I can find an app that will allow me to also change tracks

I stream from my phone all the time. I am using an S2. How are you trying to change the tracks? I change them via the audio program on my phone. I am using Poweramp as my audio player. I don't believe you can change the tracks through the car's stereo system.

I have used Ipod touch 3rd gen, BB Bold 9900, and Iphone (4 or 4s can't remember) and I was able to use the steering wheel control to change the music... so might be the s3.
My gf has an s3 so maybe i'll see if I could do it using her phone..

You should be able to change tracks from your steering wheel. Just from other phone issue threads iphone and Samsung products seem to have compatibility issues with our UVO systems. There are updates at the dealership that might correct any issue that you are having. Not to many issues with the Droids, but for those having issues also see the dealer for updates. Remember we are dealing with technology that changes everyday so if you have newer tech instruments you could have issues that need updating.

You cannot change songs with your car to your phone.

I suggest you throw some songs onto a usb and just plug it in and save some phone battery.

Btw chris want to join the local KDM group in BC?

With bluetooth no I cant change tracks from the wheel. But by using a USB cable from my iPhone I can. I find the sound quality is also better using a USB cable.

Changing tracks over Bluetooth with the steering wheel controls works perfectly for me.

Samsung GS3 using Spotify and the normal music player.

Do you have the UVO player or the base model player?

Changing tracks over bluetooth does not work for me.

iPhone4, standard audio player.
2012 Rio LX+. Factory stereo (not UVO) with iphone 5. Audio streaming works but no track display or track control. I figured the head unit didn't support AVRCP bluetooth profile which means it would only support audio streaming, but nothing else. The user above that can use controls on bluetooth makes me wonder if it is UVO and that supports that profile, or if the iphone can't negotiate with the head unit to use that feature, or if there is a firmware update available to add this.

A quick solution is installing an ios app called cartunes. Gives simple touch screen guestures for changing songs on the phone. Makes it very easy to mange what you are listening to without taking your eyes off the road.

Just the base model. I'm from South Africa, we don't get the nice things.
Does it show the song/artist of playing tracks on the display? I was certain that it was a bluetooth profile issue that prevented this from working. Maybe there is a software update to add this profile? anyone else have back/forward track buttons working over bluetooth?

As someone who has extensively used and tested different phones and apps with the steering wheel controls, most of the time the problem is the mobile app (usually the default one that comes with your phone). I have had a lot of success using internet streaming apps and some of them show track titles and some of them do not.

I have also had intermittent issues where I could not get the car to switch to media bluetooth mode. Sometimes when this happens I can receive calls but I cannot listen to music on my phone. I've tried many different things to fix this issue but usually by the time I get upset the car spontaneously fixes itself.

Just a quick tip with the new version of Android (Jelly Bean) bluetooth audio will not work until you open the music/streaming app and hit play before tapping the media button. If you have any other issues you may need to make sure the UVO firmware is up to date.

One bug that I have noticed is that my car will not remember which track is playing from USB when the vehicle is turned off. You can tell that it is trying to continue playing but then it resets to the first track every time (very annoying). It does seem to work better when I don't remove the key from ignition. Every now and then it will remember and continue playing where it left off but it will always turn off shuffle mode.

That's what I have to do. I have HTC Amaze with Android 4.0.3 running PowerAmp. I have to start the app and hit play. After that I can skip forward or backward through the songs using the steering wheel control. I do not get song information displayed on the UVO screen. The main advantage is that my phone can play .flac files whereas the UVO can't. This allows me to play ALL the songs on my phone, not just the .mp3 files.
