i just got a 97 sephia from my grandmother. the cats are plugged up and the muffler shop told her that she had to replace them with stock ones. the run like 700 bucks. is this true? or can i just use an aftermarket cat?

you can use aftermarket ones. escept the one on the manifold though.

where the heck would you get an aftermarket Cat converter anyway? Unless you guys are talking about a cat back exaust and a new exaust manifold.
a high flow cat. they are everywhere nighhawk check ebay out my man!!!!
well I know they have alot of catalytic converters, but I didn't know they had much in the way for Kias, I might check out the mounting and check out my locak auto shops and get a general idea of what I am looking for before I decide to buy anything, I dunno if I will be able to hook it up myself. I'll have to check that out too.
most catalytic converters are universal (in our case or any cars case with 97+) just make sure it is obd2 compliant........
For mounting any muffler shop knows what to do.... Its as easy as just welding in new hangers.. If they dont know this go to someone that does....
where would be the best place to get the best price on the manifold one? i guess only from the factory?
yes or a junk yard.
