2004 Sorento: On the rear axle, there's the two rods (on each side I believe) that help keep the axle aligned on the back of the car (mechanic's words) - what in the world are those rods called? They have bushings on them that connect to the car chassis.

Mine dry-rotted and have to be replaced, but I don't know what to call them so my auto-minded buddies know what I'm talking about.

The trailing arms attach to the axle on each side and are in parallel to the drive shaft.

Maybe this is what you are talking about?

BECK/ARNLEY Trailing Arm Part#1016128

Rock Auto Parts has the whole piece and bushings separately. If your mechanic / friends have done this before on a Jeep, then the job should be fairly easy.

If the bushings fight you, an acetylene torch does a nice trick on the old bushings and then the collar can be beat / cut out at your leisure.

But, I have to say that the price on the arms with bushings is very tempting. One has to wonder about the quality of the complete piece.

Either way, I hope that this helps. Good luck!
