Canada - KIA Sportage HEV delivery estimates

I placed an “order” with, allegedly, Western Canada’s largest volume KIA dealership in August 2022 for a KIA Sportage SX HEV. At that time I was 68 in the queue. 5 months later (January 2023) I’m still #68 in the queue. The dealership has only received 4 HEV Sportage in 5 months and, most likely, those were fulfilling orders placed late 2021.

I was then told that they hope to expect more vehicles by Q3 of 2023.

So that is the lay of the land from my view; a year to 1.5 years wait.

Anyone want to add their experience so far? (Waiting or received)

My experience with trying to purchase a 2023 KIA Sportage SX PHEV has been pretty negative so far placed a deposit down in May 2022. When vehicles started to come in the greedy dealer started to send emails to customers saying that the first customer that came into the dealer could have the vehicle well above MSRP and must have a vehicle to trade in. The emails were for gas and hybrid models. KIA Canada has no control of dealer pricing or business practices apparently!
So now I have deposits down at two KIA dealers, one Honda, one Toyota and one Hyundai dealer!
I put my chances of getting a Sportage at 0%.
Hopefully everyone here has a better luck….

Supposedly there is an increased allocation for Canada in 2023 of Sportage models with the aim of catching up with past orders in Q1. That said, I ordered an HEV SX in Spetember and have been told March is a realistic timeline. No idea where I am in the dealer's wait list. I have also ordered White with Red interior which will either be good (no one else on the wait list wanting that choice) or bad (no allocation of unicorns). I'll get impatient if we hit April with no delivery or confirmed VIN number by then.

you should have a VIN. Dealerships have a good indication of incoming units for Feb and March. I was able to look at a binder of VIN numbers at my dealership for several models. Understandably each model page was sparse but they had VINs for in transit vehicles.

seems my optimism was misplaced and the promised catch up in orders did not occur in Q1 and shows no sign of arriving in Q2 either. Wonder if we might see orders filled in Q3 but with 2024 model year cars? Very frustrating.
We placed an order august 2022 for a phev sx and no news. My wife talked to a different dealership owner recently and he told us they're simply not coming in at the moment.
Why, if I may ask, you are after Kia Sportage PHEV? I honestly see no reasons at all to go after any Kia PHEV except Niro.

Why not ? We want to save on gas and with the Quebec incentives and high residual value the lease payments are interesting
Lease, really? Is it a business or private transaction? I mean, you can spend your money any way you want if you have no count... Lease only makes sense if you expense it thru your business.

We don't want to buy it, as we will probably go fully electric in a few years. We're on the EV9 waitlist also
I had a deposit down on an SX HEV since June 2022. Have heard sporadic updates from the dealer but still nothing. I was #4 in the queue and only 1 had come in. I heard through a group that a dealer about 4hrs away had an SX PHEV. So I jumped on that and am going to pick it up on Saturday!

Thank you for poisoning the planet! Did you even research how much enviro damage 'fully electric' car and its battery production cause? How much damage every electric charge causes compared to gas car? Are you cost or enviro concerned?

Are you for real ?
Wow ... now we're going "there"
We ordered (put a deposit on) a 2023 SX HEV back in June 2022 in Toronto (North York), fast forward to two weeks ago, they called to say they have a unit like we wanted, in their words it wasn't "ours" but rather someone else's ahead, who couldn't take the delivery. We jumped on it, as they were saying that ours will be coming late summer to late fall. In the process they twisted our arms on the trade-in (lowballed and wouldn't budge). All in all, the complete lack of transparency in the ordering process is allowing them to get away with whatever they want.
