Boy you need to do a lot of reading...The actual model has proven itself very reliable and there are owners that still drive their 1995 Sportages...
There are common problems and lots of answers still available for the reading as we have not archived any forum threads.
The timing/cam belt on a 2000 will leave you stranded but unlike later models usually will not damage the valves and pistons as it is believed to be a non-interference engine.
If you have not bought the car just yet ....read on.... and get an idea of what you "might" buy and what to look out for...
