Anybody have any experiance changing the body control module to fix the rapid blinker problem on a 2006 Spectra?

Wow sounds like a real PIA. I treid checking the ground by the turn signal but had no effect. So the BCM would be the next likely thing to pursue?

Have you checked to see all lamps are lit? If one is out (or dim) the flash will be faster. It will also indicate where the problem is. If they are all lit (or flashing) the BCM "may" be bad. Replacing it is not all that bad after removing the lower plastic "curtain" below the steering wheel... Be advised that there are two screws hidden behind the plastic panel located on the far left end of the dash that you can see only when the door is open. This panel is popped off to reveal the two screws... Then there are two more screws under the plastic curtain/panel. The top of the panel is also held in place with fasteners just like the left panel and the top "pops" off. The dash light dimmer and trunk release have removable plugs that you push in a tab and pull the plug out...
If you get one from the salvage yard check the part numbers match.
I'd follow the recomendation to label the etacs/bcm wires and take photos of the removal so you have some reference to look at during re-assembly of the new (used) bcm.. A little time comsuming but not really hard.

Ok. I may attempt this. I have seen the BCM on Ebay for less then $100. Will these work or should I dind a donor car? Also will the key fobs need to be reprogrammed regardless?

Try car-part.com to locate salvage yards in your area..You'll probably find them cheaper there. Don't be afraid to ask for a better price. You might want to "pull" the BCM first and get the part# from it...There are slight variances in programming and the closer you can get to the original # the better.
The last post I saw the key fobs did not have to be reprogramed.
Take some time and read the 2004.5 on Spectra threads as they will give you all kinds of things to "lookout" for.

2004.5 up till 2009 was the last major update to the Spectra "model".
So any post refering to mid year 2004 Spectras until they were replaced with the 2009 Forte model will cover your car and the the problems/cures/modifications made to them.
The engine in the 2000~2004 Spectra was a 1.8L (alpha) (timing belt)
The engine in the 2004.5~2009 Spectra was a 2.0L (beta) (timing belt)
The engine in the 2009 Forte is a 2.0L (theta) (timing chain)
All these engines are improvements over an earlier Mazda design that KIA/Hyundai bought... The automatic transmissions are a Ford/Mazda/Jatco joint venture design and could be found in Contours/Escorts and currently Mazda2 cars the basic design name is called a 4EAT and is still being used...(with many improvements over the years).
The Spectras were looked upon as a "throw away" rust bucket car until the 2004.5 on cars PROVED that they were as good or better than many Jap made cars.
If you keep up the maintainence on them they will serve you well upwards past 300k miles.
So any post about mid year 2004 to 2009 Spectras will relate to your car.

As you may know, the Check Engine Light may erroneously illuminate, signifying a fault with the front oxygen sensor when no fault exists.
Replacing the electrical connections at the oxygen sensor with a repair kit available from Kia will commonly fix this problem.

2008 Kia Amanti side mirrors
My side mirrors on the driver and passenger sides go nuts.
I do not need or want now for a fob or BCM to adjust the mirrors for me. Has anyone determined how to disable the "automatic" feature so I can simply power the mirrors to where I want them?
