Can’t tell you if there is a way to raise the volume, but I can tell you the microphone is on the headliner on the driver side in front of the visor.

 

Thanks for the info. I'll look at it. Like I said, everyone we've called or received a call from said they could barely hear us. May have to take it in.

 

What kind of phone(s)? Does bluetooth work on the phone with other headsets?

Perhaps someone else is using the same phone or phones and can provide a comparison.

When the bluetooth is on on my Android Nexus phone, it clearly shows bluetooth is on. There is no "handsfree" mode since the mic and audio is being redirected and sent/received via bluetooth.

 

The BT works on both phones. It's just that the people we were talking to said our volume was low. Salesman said to increase the volume using the steering wheel control after the call connects. Going to try that.

 

That's pretty funny. You can't increase your outgoing volume. That is the mic in the headliner. You can only increase the incoming volume that you hear.

That being said, sometimes I do talk up towards the ceiling in order for the Speech recognition to work better, or for people to hear me better. It depends on road noise..etc...

That was my thought too. This is our first time using BT so it's a learning curve.

 

btw.. I work in my car sometimes and I use a bluetooth headset when I need to make sure someone can hear me very clearly.

Bluetooth is a funny business; for many people it just sort of appeared on the scene without much fanfare. I remember when I was in the computer business, some customers presented me with a computer for maintenance: "And it has Bluetooth!". -At the time, I simply had no idea what it was, and they had no idea what it was for, however, it had been a major selling-point for the computer!

Searching the Internet, it seems that the detail of pairing phones and cars is a troublesome area, particularly transferring your contact list. It's a case of Car problem or Phone problem? Who are you going to call for a solution? Bluetooth is not well documented at the user level.

 

The blue tooth volume can be adjusted independent of the stereo volume as shown in the owners manual. (see attachment).

 

Is that for the nav unit? I've looked all through every settings/setup I can find and can't find that.

 

Yes, Nav system..on page 5-25 .. you can set the default volume..phone has to be connected..
