2nd attempt to post this Q.

My neighbor has a '06 Sportage with a V6. We are pretty sure the (original) battery is dead and are going to replace it. We can't figure out how to remove the air cleaner intake hose assembly. There are a couple of plastic body panel "screws" that hold it to the forward crossframe. Do I just cut those (they don't screw out) then replace them with generic plug/screws once the battery is replaced?

There is a tool at the parts store for these pins. Pops em out, you put them back in. Dont cut them, nothing on A car needs to be cut off to be replaced.

But cutting if will most likely cause scratches and such on the plastic and look horrible. The tool is like 7 bucks, not much more than those clips. Good to just have in the tool box incase you see them again ever.
