Yes, auto resetting would annoy me. The only time I really wanted a read-out was to show the average after a 7500 km holiday (not on a KIA). Most of the time, the fuel meter can be ignored, and resetting each time is illogical.
Once you are confident that the meter is accurate, resetting for particular tests can be instructive. e.g. Testing fuel consumption at fixed speeds or in various gears. -Proved handy to have this information when I had to drive a long way stuck in 4th gear due to a clutch malfuction.
