If yours is like my 2011, there is a piece of plastic trim running from the base of the mirror to the headliner. Just pull it off and you will expose 3 wires (- ground, + always on, + ignition switch on). I do not remember the color codes. A test light or voltage meter will tell you which is which. Note, the wires are thin and may not handle the extra current. The trim is easy to pull off if you want to wire directly to the fuse box.

Mine has 4 wires... white, Blue, Red, and Green. The radar detector has just Black and Red.. I was hoping someone could tell me which is which. Maybe I'll try pulling the trim off (if my wife doesn't kill me!)...

Thanks

Note to Tom : do not wary about the extra current because a rd takes
a tiny current , see the specs on your rd manual.

Which brand is it ---curiosity --- I own a bellscort Redline , invisible
to RDD and very reliable.

I took my connection directly form inside the roof lamp , though you need
a voltmeter to find the exact spot to tap ---it can be confusing for
a novice ;)

I have the Escort 9500ix with a Mirror mount (BlendMount), I looked at the Redline, but I don't travel anywhere that I need a stealth detector and the GPS Redlight alert is handy in NJ...

I was going to use the roof lamp, but my wife saw me removing screws the first night we had the Sorento and wasn't real happy. So in the name of peace, I decided to run the power along the headliner and through the molding... haven't done it yet as I'm waiting for the power cord from Amazon, but seems simple enough.

Thanks

Tom

Did you guys ever figure out the wire color codes for light and/or dimming mirror?

Also, if I were to run power down the pillar, is it safe to remove the pillar cover? Is the oval that says 'Air bag' a removable cap?

If your talking about running it across the top and then down the side to the fuse box, that's what I did. No need to remove anything... Along the top and the side down to where the door opens the wire will slide in with a little pressure. from where the door opens to the fuse box you might need a small too to lift the rubber strip back a bit... but again, the wire will slide in with a little pressure.

As for the wires, if I remember correctly the red and green are constant power... red and white will power on and off with the ignition... I never figured out what the blue wire is for.

Hope that helps
