I have the old model which uses torque converter.

I heard newer ones are having dual clutch type system.

Is it smooth like conventional auto? How about low speed manoeuvring like parking?

There is a difference between the petrol and diesel automatics. If you look at the specifications on the Kia website, you'll see that only the petrol models have the DCT, while the diesels have the more conventional torque-converter, but with a 6-speed box now.

I have driven both and have found them very smooth. My own car is a 126 bhp CRDi Sportswagon; so much smoother than my previous cee'd 3 SW CRDi 6-speed manual.
