I just purchased a 2020 Telluride EX. I traded in a 2019 Sorrento for the Telluride. Me and my wife both have LG G6 Android phones. We were excited to have Android Auto on both Kia's and was one of the features we looked for in our new vehicle. However, we have been disappointed with the Android Auto app and connectivity with the Kia UVO system. In both vehicles, we were able to easily connect our phones via the USB port. However our phones constantly disconnect after a few minutes of use. We unplug the phones and reconnect them and Android Auto works again for a few minutes until dropping again. I followed the Google support topic on how to troubleshoot Android Auto connectivity problems (use recommended cables, enabling USB debugging, USB connection settings, etc). Android Auto works fine in my 2017 Chevy Colorado and rarely drops.

Has anyone had similar problems with Android Auto and Kia vehicles? Does anyone know more technical details on how to troubleshoot the Kia UVO system? or more detailed troubleshooting of Android devices connecting to UVO? This is very frustrating and is the only problem we are having with our Telluride. Other than this, we LOVE the Telluride. Any advice or help is appreciated!

I’ve had this happen a couple of times (Apple Car Play). But I noticed it happen when my wife had the phone in her hand. I’m thinking it was the cable losing connection. You may want to try different cables if you haven’t already.

I drive a 2016 Sorento and sometimes experience disconnects. I have very good luck if I re-boot my phone before I start driving.

It's usually the phone. When hooked up with the correct usb cable, the LCD screen is basically just a reflection of your phone.

Try to figure out when it is happening, what your phone was paired to previously, and even if your phone might be conflicting with your wife's. There are too many variables to list, be patient and look for 1 at a time.

What do you mean by “correct usb cable”? My iPod nano w/ 30 pin connector to usb does not register in the audio system.

Let me expand to my earlier post. I had been having a few glitches with Android Auto but I recently upgraded my phone from a Galaxy S5 Active to a Galaxy S9. All of my previous problems have disappeared.
