Here's an upcomming new motor design for gas/electric vehicles...
You could get dizzy just looking at the demo video.
I guess you could say "it's got BALLS"...and "large titanium balls" at that!
Some interesting numbers...
2 cylinder four stroke

62 moving parts

62kg ( 137lbs in weight

74kW (100hp) at 3000rpm with torque up to 290Nm (213ft-lb)

Dr Hüttlin expects efficiency to increase by another 40%
with reduced bearing friction and optimization of the combustion:eek:

Can shift from generator to motor to compressor "on the fly"
******************************************************
Pretty intriguing design. It took me 3 passes of the video to get the "jest" of it.

Imagine 2 of these in a RIO (200hp and 278lbs weight total)!!!

The spherical genius of the Hüttlin Kugelmotor

These "novel-geometry" engine designs are usually deficient when it comes to cooling. Didn't see any facilities for dealing with engine heat on the diagrams. Same story with Australian designed Sarich Orbital engine.
