Hello I was seeing if someone can help me figure out what the problem is with my charging system. I have a 2004 Kia optima 4 cylinder and I just bought a new battery and tested the alternator. The alternator was butting out 14.7 volts but whe I but the multimeter on the battery terminal it starts at 13.77 volts and runs down from their until the car stalls out from lack of power and this is when either the lights or the heat is on when they are off it runs longer but will still die eventually. Any ideas?

Sounds like worn wires from alternator to battery. I had a similar issue with my 2005 optima where I to replace alternator because I have an aftermarket sound system in my car. When I went to install the new alternator, the postive wire was completety frayed and burned out, so the battery was getting very little power from the alternator. I just cut the "dead" part of the wire away, got a wire coupler connector, and connected fresh 4 gauge wire to alternator.
