Alberta package

Hey guys,

Bought my first 2017 EX v6 Sorento yesterday and I'm excited! Until we spoke "warranty" and suddenly prices jumped significantly with packages.

In the end I had them price just the Alberta winter package (under coating + interior coating) and the XPEL just the tip of the bumper, for around $2200 after tax.

Is this reasonable price? I searched but it's hard to say if prices for the Calgary area and the Florida area for example are comparable.

I'm not feeling I'm getting a good deal on the two, but maybe it is?

Thanks!

ridiculous, these packages are a "cash-cow" for the dealer.

Go after market, if you want rustproofing go to something like Krown, who has been doing it for ages (and proven) and is about $130 a year (and a thorough rustproofing not just an undercoating) and if you get it done within 6 months of purchasing the vehicle they will warranty it for as long as you own it.

If you want to protect the interior get a few cans of Scotchguard or similar at $10 a can, or check out a local company that can provide it at reasonable cost.

Forget the dealers on this type of stuff, its ridiculously over priced.

I realise I am late to the thread but, for those who may read it later on..............don't waste your money.

I was a car dealer for two decades in Calgary. Sales rep, Sales manager, F+I manager.............in a KIA store too for 1 year.

You can buy cans of spray on Scotch Guard at Canadian Tire for $10-15 a piece to do the interior fabric/carpets, and as far as interior leather goes you do not need to condition it at all. Just keep it clean with a damp cloth.

Undercoating is a waste of money too. Your vehicle has a 5 year rust perforation warranty from KIA. Section 1 of the coverage says that unauthorized modifications or products applied to the vehicle can void the warranty. If the crap the dealer wants to overcharge you for had value it would have been put there by KIA to start with.

Dealers also overcharge for XPEL or 3M....it's cheaper to go to a private shop in the city to do it.

DO NOT BUY any back end products at all in the F+I office except for maybe the extended warranty coverage from the vehicle manufacturer, and not an aftermarket warranty company. Markup is between 100-200% on the chemical products and they just simply are a waste of money. and/or do not work
