Hi,

I need to have my timing belt replaced and it was recommended that I replace the water pump (which has no issues.) 2004 sorento EX with 123000 miles.

Question- the mechanic said that he would only recommend putting in the OEM water pump from the dealer.

Is there an aftermarket water pump which anyone has used and would recommend? or should i bite the $250 bullet for the OEM?

Thanks-

J

Take the good advice from the mechanic and use the KIA Water Pump..

The one you now has lasted 123K and still going. That's a good reason to pay the extra.

Not forgetting that you will spend a lot on the labor charges, so a bit extra for the pump will save you paying for maintenance when the cheaper pump fails or leaks.

I bought mine from Rock Auto. They deal with the supplier that makes them for Kia and alot of the Japanese and Korean car makers. Research and read the info. The new one I bought had all the same marking as the OEM. Just my .02 worth.
