I recently purchased a 2010 Sedona LX. I wanted to find out if it is possible to add the audio controls to the steering wheel with the standard head unit that it came with.

My hope is that I can purchase the Kia part and have it work. My concern is that you have to have the head unit that comes in the EX to have the steering wheel audio controls.

I've searched the forum and haven't come accross an exact discussion about this topic. I'd appreciate any feedback.

I would love to know if anyone has information on this. I am hoping that all the wiring is in place and that the remote merely plugs into the steering column... otherwise we would have to run the wiring all the way to the stereo which would be considerably more work!

If you check out kiatechinfo.com they have some schematics for replacing the audio remote, but I'm not sure if my van didn't come with the remote if the wiring is there or if the radio supports it.

Any thoughts?

Ok,
I recently added remote steering controls to my EX, the controls come as a 'kit' comprising the buttons and a short loom that relaces the existing loom that connects the cruise controls, after changing the very short loom under the air bag the wires at the radio become active.
I am using an aftermarket radio so i donnot know if the original radio would have had remote control or not.
but the actual change of the buttons and loom took 1/2 an hour at the most
