Hey all. I just picked up a new Sorento SX 2 days ago and I have tried everything I can think of to connect my ipod nano (3rd Gen) but the Sorento just doesn't see it. I validated it is supported in the manual, I connected it to my pc and made sure the nano didn't need updates, there's no specific cable I've seen mentioned like in older Kia vehicles. I've done every combination of plugging in and unplugging started vs off. Nothing is working. Anyone have ideas?

It may be due to the way the Nano is formatted. I have a USB stick that I have been using with 3 prior cars and never a problem until now. With the new Sorento it cannot be recognized. I think it may be due to the formatting type though. I am not sure which format but it is the opposite of what mine is formatted to whatever the heck that is. So the Sorento may see your Nano the same way as a USB stick which is not formatted correctly for it.

Were the iPod devices formatted on a Mac? From the Infotainment manual, Page 10-14 says that the USB formats the system recognizes is Fat16/32 (recommended); exFAT; and NTFS. I'm not positive, but I think the file format would be HFS if the iPod is formatted on a Mac. Also, the manual says the system won't play DRM music, so if you bought your music through iTunes it will have protection that prevents if from playing.

An iPod Touch is just an iOS device with no phone. You don't format it like a USB device.
With that said, they are old tech these days and the latest iOS version they can be updated to is pretty old - that may be the issue.
I just purchased the 2021 Sorento S and my iPod won't play either. First the dealership told me it was because I had an iPod nano and the technology was too old that I needed a newer iPod. So I went out today and bought a new iPod touch that cost $200 and guess what it still doesn't recognize it. So I went back to the dealership and now they're telling me that the only way that you can use the iPod is to use it wirelessly over Bluetooth but if you do that then you can't have your Bluetooth phone running at the same time so you have to choose whether you want to use your phone or the iPod this is a huge inconvenience compared to the Kia Sportage that I just traded in had I known this I probably would not even have bought the car
