Just had service at our 3rd separate dealer and they could not clear the warning light. Shrugged their shoulders and blamed it on a software issue. Seriously considering trading our Sorento in at this point, as "the engineers" can't seem to figure this out, and I'm sick of getting beeped at and losing instrument gauge functionality. My neighbor is seriously considering a Hybrid Sorento and I told him to skip over to the Toyota dealer and look at a hybrid Highlander.

Dealer offered to flush my system but based on the posts here I told them not to bother yet. Hoping Kia recommends a better fix. In the meantime, as annoying as it is to do, the fix another user posted here helps—start your car with the door open and shut it as it’s loading. Don’t get the ding after that.

Super late to my response. They did find that the radiator had been cracked. they took it on an extensive test drive after taking it multiple times and found the leak. Replaced radiator under warranty. Since then, the leak has been resolved and the coolant is full...HOWEVER...the light still comes on. I have been assured its a software issue. A rather annoying one.

New Update: Inverter fan coming on at 32mph (give or take) and will turn off around 27mph (give or take). ALL THE TIME. Getting it back into Kia for another go-a-round.

35k miles into our '21 model and overall we have been happy, but these issues will take away from us potentially getting a new lease.

Well here it is 5 months of driving with this "refill inverter coolant" light on. And still no fix.
Back in May the dealership told me that they were aware of the problem and saidthey were waiting on corporate to advise them on what to do. They also said that the fix would probably come in the form of a recall.

Hahaha! I did receive a recall last week BUT it was for a seatbelt issue

I am SO tired of driving around hearing that warning go off and not being able to see my display!!

I wish Kia would just FIX it! Obviously this is a problem for 2021 Sorento Hybrid owners across the board!

Apparantly the Kia Niro EV is having the same issue.....

As well as the Hyundai Santa Fe PHEV.....

I got some news,
The mechanics said that they change the coolant with another one which has different electricity conductivity. I point to him about cristal forming on the sensor (and mention the forum btw) and he said he was not aware about this issue and they just follow a fix notice send this month by Kia. 2 others Sorentos have been serviced like that and so far no problem occured again.
I am not fully confident that he told the truth. The guarantee will be prolong.

I have seen the official Hyundai Santa Fe PHEV service bulletin for the refill inverter coolant issue (I think it was linked earlier in this thread). Has anyone seen an official Kia service bulletin for this issue? I want to be able to show it to my dealer when I take my car in to try to fix this next week.

Update(s). First, I expressed our collective frustration to a friend who works for Kia Corporate, and he plans to bring this issue to the Sorento brand team. I've been traveling for 2 weeks, so not sure if he has had the conversation yet. Will check back on this ASAP. Second, we just returned from a 2,500 mile trip and the "start the car with the door open" solution worked about 90% of the time. We had our fair share of starting / stopping as we toured the Columbia River Gorge, Oregon Coast and Redwoods NP. The weather was cooler, so that may be a factor, but I'll be holding the door open when starting until they fix this issue.

Is this class action lawsuit material? I'm so pissed off, I certainly won't ever buy another Kia. In addition to the refill inverter coolant warning, I also now have a "service in 999 miles" alert. Oh thanks! I really enjoy seeing that for an entire month every time I start the car! As well as the "low tire pressure" alert for a rear wheel that has 32 psi. Other wheels with 32 psi don't have an alert. Probably another bad sensor. WTF Kia.

I was able to find a fix on my end, I traded in. That was the only option because KIA could not fix it. Trying to find a hybrid now is like looking for a needle in a haystack. Got tired because my car was in the shop for almost 6 months combined.
I sold my 2022 Kia Sorento Hybrid EX also. I did not have any problems with it, but the actual mileage varied quite a bit from the EPA estimated mileage. I did achieve 38 mpg with the Sorento on occasion, but normally it was in the 31-33 range. I can get 28 mpg on the highway with my Ridgeline.

Been asking the dealership about this for a while off and on. Got an Official response and I quote:

'Spoke with engineers at Kia. Replacement of electric water pump will not correct concern. As of now, Kia has no fix for this concern.'

Just freaking great. Closing the door on the start up process may be the 'fix' we need to keep doing for a long while. This is straight BS.

@Jaybeez hopefully you will have some good new from your contact at kia corporate.

Took my MY2021 Sorento PHEV to my dealer in Norway. They told me they are aware of the issue and that the solution is to flush the system with a new coolant, which is not currently available in Norway. They did not specify the type of coolant. They also said they expect to receive (but have not yet) a special piece of equipment from Kia to flush the system. They said they would have these in a few weeks and would call my vehicle for repairs in a few weeks. I am not optimistic given all the reports of similar failed solutions on this thread, but will report back if there is a development.

So...I've had this warning all summer and checked a few times and coolant was full. Dealer said they knew there is an issue, but do not have a fix yet. With the Fall weather, the light came on less and less. However, just a week or two ago I noticed a fan noise while driving occasionally and more so after turning of the engine. Since the light and fan were on at 37 degree F, I figured I better check the reservoir. Of course, it was basically empty.

So off to the dealer today and they are clueless. Not even sure what coolant to put in there which prevents them from running a test. So very frustrating.

In the end, Kia's inability to fix a false light led me to disregard it when it actually was a problem. Hopefully no damage was done and they can get this fixed quickly, but I doubt it.
