Hi, so my 2018 Kia Sorento now has a issue with not recognizing the key fob in my car the lock and unlock buttons work on the key fob but to lock or unlock on the door handles does not work the courtesy light comes on in the handle but it won't unlock and then when I get in the car the yellow icon with the car flashes but won't start until I put the fob to the button I put a new battery in the car and also all the fobs.
Sometimes after I drive or start the car the buttons work for a few seconds then they stop.

I don't know what to do anymore.
Is it a wiring issue or is a module bad

Sounds like fobs need new battery to me, but if you've already replaced them, not sure what else could be wrong.

The car should still be under warranty, right? Why not take it to the dealer?

Does the 2nd fob behave exactly the same way?
Hi, so I literraly just made it into the warranty period I have 2000km left and until May,
But I took it into the dealership today and they suspect it's the smart key module.

Fingers crossed that's what it is but they are covering it under warranty.

And yes both keys behaved the same way
For anyone experiencing something like I did it may be that as well.

My symptoms were:
Key fob locked and unlocked with remote.
Key fob in hand touching the door handles did not open or close doors
Key fob was not detected inside the vehicle
Had to touch the fob to start button.
And as for the door buttons they would only work for a few seconds after I ran the car so with the key fob in hand and smashing the door handle buttons it would work for seconds and stop.

Hopefully this can help some people if they experience something similar.

I will update everyone as soon as the part comes in and is installed.

I suspect the dealer is correct. There is a single module responsible for managing RFID from the three antenna systems around the car that seem to be not working for you. I always go with the 'common factor' first.

Had the same issue and also lost a fob here too. Bought a new fob and paid $120 to a well known and well regarded locksmith in the area to reprogram the existing fob and the new one too.

A week later, one stopped working even though it had a fresh battery. Took it back to the locksmith and got it reset, no charge. No issues since then.

Dealers vary in price to do this... The one I used to visit wanted $300 just to reprogram the fob. Another offered to redo it for free if I bought it there. But, that would have cost more than buying a new OEM fob from kiapartsnow.com and paying the locksmith. And it would have been a 3 week wait.
