I just came back from a road trip, and my problem happened several times. I would be driving down the road, there would be an ever so slight jolt, the check engine light would go on, and it was like the gas pedal stopped working. So I would pull over, turn off the car, wait a minute, then start it again, and it would be working fine. Luckily everytime it happened, I was able to pull over safely. What could this be? I already have an appt on Friday to have it looked at, but I was just wondering, how long this would take to fix

Until we know the cause, no one will know how long the fix will take. I would not worry, it's probably just a bad sensor.

To tell you the truth it could be any numbers of sensors. Do you have a check engine light on? If so, it will be easier for the dealership to fix.
