Late last winter, especially when it was very cold, I had an issue with my car making a clicking noise that would lessen as the engine or weather warmed. It was very similar to having a plastic card clipped to your bike so it would flick on the tire spokes. Took it to O'Reilly's autoparts to have them run a quick diagnostic and it gave me the PO303, 3rd cylinder misfire. He said and several other sources said I could try replacing all of the spark plugs and if that didn't fix it, then next step would be the coil packs. I replaced them. The clicking stopped for a week. It started again, but I was taking it in a couple days for an oil change. The Kia dealership wasn't concerned about the noise and it wasn't giving a code anymore.
Fast forward to couple of weeks ago, the noise started to get worse and one day my car stopped responding to the throttle while I was idled at a stoplight. From previous experience with a junked out Honda Civic, I just turned my car off and turned it back on to see if it would move. It did and I took it straight to O'Reilly's again. It gave me the same misfire code, plus two new ones: P2110 and P2118, "Throttle Actuator Control System Forced Limited RPM" and "Throttle Actuator Control Motor Current Range/Performance" respectively.
I cannot find ANYTHING in the manual about it, be it a fuse, senor, etc, so I don't even begin to know where to look.
I had to travel two hours put of town yesterday. When I got back home, after 4+ hours total of driving, it wouldn't start back up after I dropped off my friend. I let it sit in her lot overnight and it started today, but I need to do something.
Can anyone offer me any advice on what I can look into while I wait for the mechanic to get me in?
Thank you for your time!
