Hello, I'm new to the forum, about 6 months ago I purchased a used 2010 Kia Sedona with the 3.8L V-6, with 59,000 miles on it, for $9,000, and a few days after I bought it I had noticed it had a tick that would come and go, it didn't sound bad, but it was there. I brought it back to the dealer and he said it was a normal sound. It didn't sound normal to me, so I had him sign an agreement saying that it was a normal noise. So, a few months go by, and now, it may just be my imagination, but it seems like the sound is ever so slightly more pronounced (perhaps because now it's winter and the oil is a bit stiffer?). It tends to quiet down after you get past 1500 RPMs, but it's still there, and if you really put your foot in it, you can hear it under the "VROOOM" of the engine. It doesn't sound like it's going to fly apart, yet, but it's an annoying clatter that I know shouldn't be there. It doesn't really sound like rod knock/bottom end noise to me. The weird thing is too, it comes and goes. It took me a few times to get the dealer to hear it. Some days it'll be quiet as a mouse, other days you can't get rid of it. The only things I can think of that it might be if it's not rod knock are the Cam Phasers or perhaps the Timing Chain is getting a bit slack and is slapping around despite the tensioner? When I did my first oil change on it, I have a suspicion that it wasn't serviced as often as it should've been, when I removed the oil fill cap I could scrape some hardened oil off of it with my finger nail. I've always used Synthetic 5W-20 in it, but have also added Seafoam, Marvel Mystery Oil, and Rislone Engine Treatment to try and give it a Roto-Rooter of sorts if there's a bunch of sludge hanging out in there. So I suppose my main questions are, What does the problem sound like to you guys, do you think it's ok use as a daily driver right now, if treated properly, how many miles do you think she has left, and if the problem is more serious than cam phasers, do you think it's worth it to put a remanufactured engine into it? Thanks for you help in advance! -Brandon
