"I have a 2007 sorento. It is throwing the p0501 code. The right rear VSS. It is only reading .01v at the plug for the sensor. the charging system works fine, 14.3v. if the voltage is low at the plug, when it is supposed to be 12v., where do I go from here?"

You need to check the resistance from the ESC/ABS module to the sensor connector and find where you are losing voltage. If you read less than 1 ohm resistance, then its probably in the module itself. I've seen where the modules will leak into the connector and cause issues.
