Hi All,

I have had a persistant knock in the front end steering of my Sportage. Initial thoughts were the rack, however this has been replaced and the knock is still there.
It appears when turning mainly to the left, when in idle it can also be heard when turning the steering wheel. This knock can also be felt through the floor under my foot towards the centre on drivers side and through the steering wheel itself. It is a great car but I am baffled at to what it is and whats going on. I have a mechanic who is also a little baffled as well, he has the rack out 3 times and still the knock is there. Does anyone have any suggestions or have they had this problem and know of a solution to help us out.
Regards
Belinda

Well....my knock was a combination of a bad strut and ball joint.
I proactively replaced my front struts, ball joints, outer tie rods, and inner tie rods... and I have no more noise.
