Hi All,

I'm looking for some advice before I go messing or get a garage involved.

I brought my Kia Rio nearly 3 years ago now & when buying it I was told the clutch might need replacing. It's been fine up until recently. The car hadn't even hit 40k on the clock when I brought it, it's now hit 47k on the clock.

Recently the clutch seems to be slipping, bringing the peddle up and trying to get any power just ends up revving the engine. But does it mean I need a new clutch? Or should I just be looking at adjusting the clutch cable?

Any advice would be appreciated.

.::EDIT::. Forgot to ask, would it be a bad idea to adjust the clutch cable if it's actually the clutch itself that needs replacing? Or won't it matter? .::END-EDIT::.

Clutch pedal free play is adjusted where the cable passes through the release lever. A nut on the threaded end of the cable is used to reposition the pin that engages the release lever. Repositioning the pin adjusts pedal free play by lengthening or shortening the cable.
