Just wondering if these are good reliable cars as someone has an 01 for sale with 147000 km, i don't have any details yet about the car but just wondering if these are generally good or bad cars? He's asking 1000 $ firm for it. Newly inspected. Sorry i posted this in the wrong part of forum i think its a kia rio.

Please fill out your profile. You're stating km's noy miles then you talk $'s. Are you in Canada? Might make a difference on how much abuse the engine has taken by where you're located.

As someone who owns a 2001 Kia Rio with nearly 140,000 miles (that translates into about 225,000 kilometers, right?) on it I would say that the Rio you're looking at would be worth $1,000 only if it comes with immaculate service records.

My Rio has treated me very well and has saved me a tremendous amount of gas over the past two years I've owned it, but a Rio with 147k km is going to start racking up the repair bills pretty soon. If you can cope with repairs like a timing belt, ignition coil pack, half shaft, clutch, in your own garage then it's probably a good purchase. Having these repairs done in an outside shop, however, will likely push your cost of ownership way above the redline.

This is all my inexpert opinion, of course.
