I car pool to work with a guy who drives an 01 kia optima, and his tags expire this month. The check engine light has been on for some time, and it runs a little ruff at idle. I put new iridium plugs in it and there was no change. The car has 2 codes P0011 sensor A-timing over advanced or system performance bank one, and P2187 system too lean at idle bank one. I have checked for a vacuum leak and found none. I am lost as too what is wrong with this car, please help. car has 145k miles, and check engine light has been on for atleast 7 months.

I've done some more research and found that the problem could be due to a clogged oil passage to the CVVT actuator on the intake side camshaft. How hard is it to remove this actuator and clean it? can you get to it by removing just the valve cover, or do you need to take the timing cover off? I plan on an oil change also.
