Greetings all from ontario canada and I thank you for inviting me aboard , with 2 older model cars in my drive way...you'll probably get sick of seeing me ! .
INFORMATION FOR YOU-------------
2000 sportage , 72,000 klm's , perfect condition and shape . HOWever......aprox. 5 weeks ago I hit a deer with it at about 60 klm . Damage was passenger front fender , grill , rad , air cond.condeser , fan , whole lighting assembly and hood . All back together now and running fine .
QUESTION FOR YOU.....................
The gas gauge was showing empty ( tank was full ) and the dash warning light stays on . After driving the truck 20-30 k the gauge is moving up slowly ( half full now ) but light still on . Because the truck sat for awhile , is it possible the gas level indicator mechanizim in the tank has seized , jammed , gummed up ? . may it work itself free ? ( seems to be ) . Although I DID NOT notice this problem right after the accident could it some-how be related ?..I don't think so since all fuel proponents travel to the back of the truck . There you have my situation fellas...
ideas ?....other then any **rat with antler** jokes will be appreciated........
cheers.............The deer hunter ( Larry )

Consider my answer as ideas to check.

1. ( and most posible if it is NOT what you say) Due to the extended works been made on the spesific side were the ground cable is it MAY be something related.

2. Bye to the crasch the mechanism is -mend-broken e.t.c. inside the gas tank. I have replased it onse and it looked to me like a very delicate equipment

the low fuel indicator light I don think would be affected if it was a frontal collision. Its in the rear and in the tank.
So id have to assume it would be like the above said about grond wire or a short somewhere that leads to the clusters light from the tank.
guessing but maybe thats what i would check!

My gauge is showing FULL with the warning light on aswell.. I've had a small accident too and when the truck came back from the garage, I had that. But I clearly remember that it wasn't there a before the garage. It must be related to the fact that they are disconnecting a bunch of things to fix the Front of a Sportage.

But now, I already have a clue for them to check and connect it back. Thanks!
