Looking on KGIS, there is supposed to be a connector on the fuel pump's ground wire which you disconnect while the engine is running. Only problem is I don't seem to have this ground wire connector. I unscrewed the fuel pump's ground ring instead to achieve the same result, but was worried that the sparking while unscrewing the ground ring might damage something.

So what would be the best alternate way to depressurize the fuel system on a 2000 sporty?

That sounds much easier and safer. Last thing I need to do is fry the fuel pump.
