I was a little more due dilligent on my maintenance this time and got into the dealership at 15k to get my oil changed and tires rotated. They asked what kind of Gas I was using and we just usually get the Kroger 87 octane in Kentucky. They said they recommended some kind of fuel injection cleaner at 15k? Unless we are running like Shell or BP Gas through it. Is this needed? Can I add some fuel cleaner in it from a local AutoZone and do the same thing as opposed to paying $139.00?

Sorry forgot to add 2021 Kia Rio S

I suspect I am a bit too OCD about this, but I wait until the tank is low, and when I am at the gas station before I pump gas, I dump the cleaner in. Then I fill the tank. What I am going for is for the agitation of the fill to mix the cleaner with the fuel in a uniform way. Then I drive that tank to almost empty before getting more fuel.

Probably it doesn't matter, though. I just don't want a big load of cleaner going through the engine at once. I am going for a long, steady application of the cleaner.
Makes perfect sense! Appreciate the info! Dealerships make me nervous Right now with the pandemic you have to make an appt 2 months out then when you get there they want to hit with you misc charges I know its all part of maintaining a car but damn! 139.00 is a little blind siding unless I overlooked it on the list of items inclded on the 15k

Update: They added the fuel cleaner and didn't charge me for it. Im not complaining about it .. Free things are always a blessing, they said my Air Filter and Cabin Filter needed changed as well but I think I can order those a million times cheaper than what they can provide it at.
