The currect issue I am having right now is my 2011 KIA Sorento will not start. Im not an expert but I do know some things about mechanics. It is not my battery that is the issue it seems to be my starter possibly. I have yet to do anything about it but it's sitting at my daughters school.

I have had issues with the headliner starting to peal from the back. This happened very shortly after buying it new. We had the dealer fix it only to have the same issue come back. They fixed it again and we have had no issues since.

We had a squeeky stearing column for the longest time that the dealer as well tried to fix about 3 seperate times. My thoughts are the dealer I was taking it to are just part replacers if you know what I mean.

The front of my passenger head rest fell off due to little plastic clips breaking. I know my wife and I did not do it and the dealer never owned up to it. I really don't know what happened, but it seems cheap.

I really am just curious if anyone else has had any of these issues.. I am sick and tired of this car. Set aside from the horrible service at the local dealership (lots more to what i've said) I am really starting to think about trading it in. Any advice will be much appreciated. Whether it's about how to fix my starting problem or what I should do w/ this POS.

This is one reason to belong to the AAA. Call them up and have it towed to the dealer. I assume it's still under warranty. Make a written list of all your issues and give a copy to the service people. It all comes down to the people who do the work. Do they know what their doing and how motivated they are. You can and should speak to a district service manager.

Awesome thanks for the tips.

@ Jetech - Engine does not crank. It makes a loud clicking noise. Full battery Juice though.

@ Flush - Good advice, I called a different dealer and they said they will pick it up and tow it to their shop. I refuse to take it back to our local dealer. My dad actually did the switch a while back when they tried to charge him a couple hundred dollars at 15k miles for a fuel injector cleaning he did not consent to.

When trying to start - is it rapid clicking or a single click? Did you test the battery to confirm its voltage, or assuming since other electronics on the car work? What is the voltage at the starter when trying to crank? Bad or dirty connections can affect starting.

As a PS, it takes a lot of power to crank an engine.

Any resolution? I have a 2011 Sorrento that randomly wont start, just clicks. I have a new battery and new alternator. Do I need a starter or is it something else? I've had nothing but problems since I bought it.

Which engine? More detail on the "clicks".

Alopias welcome to the kia forums.
If you go to top right of age and select My CP and fill in your car details and location members will be able to help more accurately and the information will be there for all of your posts.
The battery checked should read minimum of 12.3 volts ignition off.
Down at starter motor there is a double connection to check. One goes to solenoid and one to starter or may be inter linked. These connections need carefully cleaning or checking for tightness.
The bolts holding starter to casing also need checking as the tightness to casing is earth link.
The clicking will be solenoid throwing, the starter takes a lot of power and will not turn if bad joint or low voltage. just because lights work does not mean battery is good

The plastic clips will not break unless considerable pressure is applied up or down on head restraints without pushing them clips in to release.
Never heard of roof lining peeling, can only presume some one been gaining access to wiring. (aerial etc.)

I had a random engine shutoff when stopping on the freeway several times (!!!). Later on, the car wouldn't start-also at my daughter's school-and it turned out the battery connection was loose. I believe this happened at the dealer, or it must have been loose from the factory. Loose connections somewhere will cause these kinds of problems, or loose/nicked wiring somewhere.

By the way, enough battery voltage is not a guarantee it has "Enough juice"-get the battery load tested. Even then, we had a Mercedes prototype I was testing at work and it randomly wouldn't start…until you trickle charged it 15 minutes, which is nothing. Mercedes never figured it out, which is why they crush those prototypes instead of selling them.

What ended up being the issue with it not starting just clicking? My 2011 Sorento just started doing this but it's intermittent and happened about 3 times over the last week.

I hate it when people start these threads with the same symptom as mine and then fail to post the resolution...

Mine is just now doing this. I've bypassed the brake switch. I just gives a loud 'click' then I hear a faint whine for 2-3 seconds, then nothing. I do this multiple times, but just get one loud click. Tried jumping, but no go.

If the starter solenoid clicks and starter does not engage, you are not getting the amps to the starter, start with voltage drop on starter power circuit..

Were you able to resolve your issue with the click but no start issue? I am having the same problem. Also my battery cables are getting real hot.
