Hi, I have a 2005 Sorento XT Auto with Tiptronic. When accelerating (in auto) the gear change is smooth (virtually unnoticeable) BUT when slowing down the gearbox 'waits' and then changes gear suddenly with a jolt - its fine when driven 'tiptronic' manual. Any guidance would be much appreciated, Regards

first thing is have you checked your transmission fluid level?
When it should be checked on level surface with the engine running.

When was the last time you pumped grease into the Drive Shaft Slip Joint ? I always lubricate it every 3 months.

That could be a reason if it's not lubricated.

Also you could give the tranny a reset by pulling the P/TRN fuse for a few mins. The tranny will then re-learn your driving habits and hopefully sort your problem.

Just a though..

thanks for those helpful suggestions - I'll start with the grease packing of the Slip Joints, how many are there on a 4 wheel drive?

Between the driver and passenger seat. Pump enough in till it oozes out the sides of the joint
