Im new to the forum and in need of some help, my grandmas car is a 04 kia optima and has the 4 cylinder motor in it. Her motor locked up and she is in need of another motor. And there is a guy that has a motor out a hyundai sonata and says it will work. Its got 130k miles on it and he is letting me have it for 300. Will these motors work in the optima? I know the body style of the car look similar.

Should work fine...
Be sure to replace the timing/cam belt and ALSO the crank angle sensor (located in the same area as the TB). Both will insure the engine WILL run a long time...
The TB is probably why the original engine "locked Up"

Also the sonata is a 2000 model will it still work? And it aint locked up it turns over fine but has a peck to it and the oil light flashes on and off. It might be the oil pump gone bad in it.

The 2000 engine is not shown as interchangeable.
I believe the years usable are 2001~2005

I searched car-part.com and the only reasonable deal they had for your area is below..

2005 Engine Kia Optima LX,2.4,EFI,AT,FWD,R134a 70,000 miles A AA0151 $900 Auto Central, LLC USA-TN(Antioch) E-mail 615-641-9595

It's considered an "A" quality engine for the miles on it... and it's 133 miles from Pioneer, Tn
