Hello everyone. I have a 04 5 speed rio sedan with 120 K on it. The car will occasionally stall when I am slowing down and the brakes and clutch are pushed down. For example: I will be driving in fifth gear at 45 mph and there will be a red light so I will push the clutch all the way down and push the brakes to slow down at that moment (while the clutch is pushed all the way down) the RPMs will drop way too low (less than 500 rpm) and the car will either stall completely or shutter and recover from the drop in RPM. This does not happen all the time, only sometimes (probably 15% of my stops). The car starts and idles fine and drives normally otherwise. It also seems to do it more in the rain and with the AC on. I suspect this might be an ECU problem. There is no check engine light on at the moment but the car did throw a "vehicle speed sensor performance out of range" P0501 code once. Driveability of the care is excellent it's just annoying that the car will stall occassionally when the clutch is pressed. Please let me know what you guys think. Thanks.

Ever clean the iac valve. Just something to think of other than the other normal tune up things like plug's and wires and what not. http://www.kiatechinfo.com/ for free service materials. Good luck, Reguard's Ronjohn

When mine was doing this it ended up being a static buildup in the alternator / water pump belt that was causing the ecu to misread signals from the throttle position /o2 /maf sensors when it would spark to ground.

Oddly enough, changing the belt fixed everything.

Just food for thought.
